Health Matters 101... Fruits as Medicine!



We are studying and learning many things in our HEALTH MATTERS 101 CLASS! Last night  we continued the series…Food: What is it good for?
There are at least 8 fruits we should be eating every day!
Blueberries
Apples
Bananas
Oranges
Purple or red grapes
Strawberries
Papayas
Kiwis
After studying the many benefits of the “Bight 8” we studied from Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa book FOOD AS MEDICINE..here is a great way to remember what to buy when shopping at your favorite store. He teaches about eating the “rainbow’.
Red: Tomatoes in any form, including sauce, juice or sliced. Pink grapefruit, watermelon, apples, and beets.
Purple: Grapes, peppers, prunes, plumes, cherries, cranberries, raisins, and (my favorite) blueberries.
Orange: Pumpkins, carrots, winter squash, sweet potatoes, mangos, apricots, and cantaloupes
Orange-yellow: Oranges, orange juice, tangerines, grapefruit, peaches, lemons, limes, papaya, pineapple, and nectarines.
Yellow-Green: Peas, beans, spinach, peppers, collard greens, cucumber, mustard greens, kiwi, and avocados.
Green: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and bok choy.
White-Green: Garlic, onions, celery, leeks, asparagus, pears, artichokes, endive, mushrooms, chives, and soy.
Try a new supermarket experience, start shopping by color. Follow this list above. First place red foods in your cart, then purple, and so on down the line. Put each color food in a separate part of your cart. This will make shopping a lot of fun and increases your awareness of the beautiful healing colors of the rainbow our Creator has given us to eat.
